Real Living Wage Brought Forward

Share

On Friday 21st October 2022 we announced our approach to supporting our colleagues through the ‘cost of living crisis’, with a pay increase for the majority, effective 1st November 2022.

Over the past year we have been keeping a close eye on inflation, announcements from other businesses and how we’re benchmarking in the retail sector. Through that time, we have discussed many different approaches to support our colleagues.

“We are proud to move to the recently announced new real living wages, 6 months earlier than planned. We did this to support our great colleagues throughthese tough times. Now more than ever we continue to put people at the heart of everything we do.”

Neil Doolan, Head of People & Culture

In April we announced, we would again maintain our pledge to be a Real Living Wage employer, with pay increasing from 1st May 2022. Now, with the Living Wage Foundation having announced early.

We have decided it is right to bring forward, what would have been an increase in May 2023, to be effective 1st November 2022. For the first time we have announced two pay increases within a year.

It comes at considerable cost to the business, one that wasn’t budgeted for and at a time when high street trade is tough, however PRS and our great partner Samsung Experience Stores UK feel it is the right decision for our colleagues, their families and their mental health and wellbeing.

This is on top of all the other great benefits of working for Partner Retail Services and Samsung Experience Stores UK.
